Dance is a hugely popular pastime, which is reflected in the number of classes available in the Festival. There are so many opportunities at all ages and stages, from under 5’s to adult, from Classical Ballet to Modern and Tap, as Solos, Duets or Groups. The Bronze, Silver and Gold Medals are always hotly contested, and offer a wonderful showcase for the best of the best.

Sharon Wood FIDTA

 Sharon has led a highly reputable and respected career as a performer, adjudicator , choreographer and lecturer. She achieved Fellowship status in all Theatre disciplines and worked professionally in Musical Theatre and Pantomimes across the country.

Although Sharon enjoyed performing professionally, her real passion lay in teaching and on becoming a qualified teacher with the IDTA. In 1981 she opened her own school in addition to teaching within state schools , training students from year 6 through to GCSE and A level in all aspects of performing arts.

Sharon is the organiser of the Shepshed Spring and Summer festivals and Director/Principal of a thriving Performing Arts school based in the East Midlands, training students for Musical Theatre, Television and film work.

Students have gone on to win IDTA scholarships in Ballet and Modern Jazz and places in Miss Dance and Dance Master and are achieving success in the Stage, TV and Film industries. She is committed to developing and encouraging our next generation of performers in all aspects of the entertainment industry alongside her role as IDTA examiner, and Adjudicator for Miss Dance, TDCI Championships and for the British and International Federation of Festivals.
