Jane Metcalfe

I am a classically-trained singer (Royal College of Music), whose career embraced Opera, Light Opera,Recital, Oratorio and Cabaret. I taught singing at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama for many years and now teach one-to-one, with occasional workshops, in Hastings, offering a solid classical technique that enables the voice to express itself freely. I trained at the London College of Music & am St Leonards based, specialising in one-to one Musical Theatre & Pop vocals coaching. Students have the option to take exams,participate in the Hastings Music Festival,as well as local public performances…or just sing for fun! I trained at Trinity College of Music followed by a post graduate studies at the Royal College of Music. Further studies took me to the Vienna Konservatorium and later to work with the Vienna Chamber Opera. I worked with the Arts Educational School and also taught singing at the Guildford School of Acting. I was Choir Mistress of St. Clemments Church in Hastings and was Musical Director of Shades Theatre and Musical Director of Stables theatre production of Wizard of Oz. Susannah Appleyard BMus(Hons)

2:1 performance degree in vocal studies from Trinity Laban (former Trinity college of Music) London. Susannah has a busy private teaching practice in St Leonards and offers lessons to all ages and abilities. Over 20 years experience. Audition/Festival preparation. Vocal technique/breath control. 100% ABRSM and Musical Theatre exam pass rate. Recent Grade 8 students achieved Distinction and ARSM Diploma merit. Grade 5 theory tuition also offered.

Emma Burnett

Emma Burnett trained at the London College of Music studying as an Opera Singer gaining her 2:1 Honours Degree, first study singer, second study Pianist. Emma also studied at The Knack, English National Opera.

Emma made her debut as Nancy in the World Premiere of Howard Goddall's 'Silas Marner'.

Emma has worked for many Opera Companies touring the UK including Holland Park Opera, English Festival Opera, European Chamber Opera, also singing with The London Philharmonic Choir and St John’s Smith Square and performing at the Festival Hall, Windsor Castle and The Albert Hall. Work includes Turandot, Carmen, La Boheme, L’Elisir d’amore, Die Fledermaus, Pagliacci, La Traviata, Tosca, Cavalleria Rusticana, Orpheus in the Underworld, Iris, Gianni Schicchi, Carmina Burana, Faure Requiem, Cantique de Jean Racine, Stabat Mater, Gloria, A child of our Time, Messiah, Elijah, St Matthew Passion, St John Passion.

Emma joined the world famous D’Oyly Carte Opera Company and stayed with them for five seasons after they returned to their home the Savoy Theatre, West End, then on their UK and USA Tours. Productions included The Mikado, HMS Pinafore, Yeoman of the Guard and Iolanthe.

Emma also recorded for BBC Radio 4 and was a backing singer for Kevin Rowland of Dexy’s Midnight Runners and later toured in Musicals of the Millenium in the UK.

Emma has run Award winning studios Mad Fish Performing Arts for 22 years.
